Encoders with EnDat 3 interface

AMO's absolute encoders now also have an EnDat 3 interface. For machine, system and device manufacturers, this means more bandwidth for data transmission, functional safety up to SIL 2 and less space required for cabling.

With the EnDat 3 interface, AMO 's measuring devices for length and angle measurement now offer a bandwidth for transmitting measured values of 12.5 Mbit/s for cable lengths of up to 100 m and 25 Mbit/s up to a cable length of 40 m, for example. Functionally safe devices up to SIL 2 are available for safety-related applications. The interface also saves machine, system and device manufacturers cabling costs, as the measured values are modulated onto the supply wires. This means that only two wires are required for serial transmission instead of four. Another feature of the EnDat 3 interface is the integrated electronic nameplate, which enables automatic system installation of the encoders and comprehensive online diagnostics. This allows the encoders to be monitored remotely as part of a condition monitoring or predictive maintenance concept.
