What developers need

Development engineers spend up to 45% of their working time providing and searching for project data. Even a PLM solution cannot prevent this, as a study on design data management shows.

One result of the study: in future, digital solutions will have to simplify collaboration between the employees involved in the project.

Technology-intensive industries are currently operating in a highly dynamic market environment characterized by short innovation cycles, increasing product and process complexity and the digitalization of business and production processes. In many development departments, too much time is spent on the administration and documentation of development results, to the detriment of their actual tasks in the development of new products. In the study "Design data management in electrical engineering and electronics", conducted by Techconsult on behalf of Zuken , developers answered why this is the case and how this could be changed:
