Open Source
Hybrid cloud-capable Linux
Red Hat now offers Device Edge, a hybrid cloud-ready Linux, lightweight Kubernetes and automation for remote and remote edge locations.
Red Hat, provider of open source solutions, announces the general availability of Red Hat Device Edge. Red Hat Device Edge provides a consistent platform designed for resource-constrained environments. It requires small form factor computing power at the device edge; examples include IoT (Internet of Things) gateways, industrial controllers, smart displays, point of sale terminals, vending machines or robots.
Red Hat Device Edge combines an enterprise-ready distribution of the Red Hat-led MicroShift open source community project with an edge-optimized operating system based on Red Hat Enterprise Linux. MicroShift is a lightweight Kubernetes project derived from the edge capabilities of Red Hat OpenShift. With general availability, Red Hat Device Edge now includes Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform for consistent Day 1 and Day 2 management of hundreds to thousands of sites and devices. Red Hat Device Edge is available immediately and is fully supported. Information is available through Red Hat sales representatives, the website or the Red Hat Costumer Portal.
