Mercedes-Benz and Microsoft are working together to make automotive production more efficient, resilient and sustainable. The MO360 Data Platform is the evolution of the Mercedes-Benz MO360 digital production ecosystem. It enables teams to identify potential bottlenecks in the supply chain more quickly and prioritize production resources for electric and top-end vehicles. The unified data platform is based on Microsoft Azure and provides the car manufacturer with the flexibility and cloud computing power to deploy AI and data analytics globally while meeting regional cybersecurity and compliance standards. The platform is already available in the EMEA region and is also being rolled out in the USA and China.

The system can be used to create virtual images of the production process. This combines information from assembly, production planning, plant logistics, supply chain and quality management. The virtual simulation and optimization of processes prior to implementation in the factory helps to increase operational efficiency and achieve energy savings. For example, managers can optimize operational processes to reduce CO2 emissions in production. The platform is managed and developed by the teams at the recently opened Mercedes-Benz Digital Factory Campus Berlin. An implemented analysis tool is intended to monitor the ecological footprint and reduce it in the long term.
