ABB
The fourth quarter and 2015 as a whole
ABB published its business figures for the fourth quarter and full year 2015 at the beginning of February. The figures were down, mainly due to the Industrial Automation and Drives and Process Automation divisions.
"We took decisive measures to focus more strongly on our customers, generated profitable growth in selected segments and were thus able to counteract the effects of the strong headwinds from the markets. At the same time, we simplified the organization, increased productivity and accelerated our cost savings," said Ulrich Spiesshofer, CEO of ABB, summing up the 2015 financial year.
The company intends to continue investing in robotics, as demand for robotic solutions in the industry is generally expected to continue to rise. In the fourth quarter, ABB launched a series of compact SCARA robots onto the market. This robotics offering is expected to be a key driver of ABB's expansion into the fast-growing consumer goods industry.
