Artificial intelligence, machine learning, deep learning and neural networks are key technologies that enable systems to react and make decisions autonomously. The "Artificial Intelligence Forum" on May 17, 2022 at the Science Congress Center Munich in Garching near Munich will demonstrate the potential of the technology for industry. It is organized by the trade media Computer&Automation, Elektronik and Elektronik automotive.

The keynote session

The forum will start with a keynote speech by Prof. Dr. Matthias Spörrle. In his presentation "AI in organizations - How data retention influences the acceptance of AI applications in companies and other organizations", he will exclusively present the first results of the study "AI applications in industry in the DACH region", which examines the acceptance and dissemination of artificial intelligence in organizations in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. In addition to an inventory of AI applications already in use, the study also looks at data provision. Where is the training data required for AI applications stored? How does the type of data storage influence the acceptance of AI in companies? What opportunities and risks does artificial intelligence present in this context?

In the second keynote, Björn Heinen from Inform will talk about pitfalls and best practices in the implementation of AI applications - from the prototype phase to the operational AI solution.

Particularly in connection with the use of artificial intelligence, there are efforts to discuss or even standardize ethical aspects. This presentation by Holger Laible, Siemens, provides background information on ethical concepts and existing legal bases, debates the conflicts and problems behind certain approaches and analyzes possible effects on society. This should help to understand the possibilities and challenges of AI systems and shed light on the question of how powerful such applications and their results are.

Three parallel sessions - Industry, Embedded, Automotive

Starting at 11 a.m., the program will be divided into three parallel sessions. In the Industry session, we welcome the following speakers:

  • My Van Hoai, Fraunhofer IKS: Framework for data and AI lifecycle
  • Umut Onus, IMMS: Use of Multi-Sensors in Predictive Maintenance - The Drill Tool Predictions using AI
  • Jakob Procher, avantum consult: Anomaly detection in the cloud and the path towards predictive maintenance
  • Dr. Robby Fritzsch, T-Systems Multimedia Solutions: What can see has a clear advantage - optical quality control through computer vision on edge and in the cloud
  • Henrike Gerbothe, SSV Software Systems: AI retrofit for control systems: Condition monitoring for drive elements with TinyML
  • Dr. Rainer Mümmler, The MathWorks: Remaining Useful Life (RUL) prediction of a servo gearbox in the cloud

Two more keynotes await you at the end of the congress day: Dr. Uwe Hatnik from Fraunhofer IIS/EAS will talk about "Edge AI for automation: using smart hardware to create smart data" and Martin Burger from DNDY. Data and Design will talk about "Current AI architectures for robust automatic speech recognition and transcription".
