This makes it suitable as a control system for any ship drive. Thanks to the modular structure of the hardware as a building block system, it can be expanded as required and is flexible. Thanks to the dual-core technology, the non-time-critical and web-based applications under Linux are strictly separated from the sensitive real-time applications in the second core. The open interface meets the requirement for flexibility, for example to install individual software, which is often necessary in maritime applications.

The controller is also compatible with the 'u-remote' I/O system so that it can be modularly adapted to the needs of the application. According to Weidmüller , the programmable logic controller is an open platform on which every manufacturer can build its own individual control architecture and flexibly adapt it for each individual ship drive.
