Dr. Benjamin Lutz (40) works at Process Industries and Drives in Karlsruhe to continuously improve the Siemens control system called PCS 7. This control system controls highly complex industrial process plants that manufacture products such as nasal sprays or chocolate-coated ice lollies in a fully automated process. The top priority for all innovations: The system must run without interruption. This is why Lutz first tests all his inventions in digital twins of the systems. The Inventor of the Year received the award in the "Talent" category.
