SPS IPC Drives 2016New products in Nuremberg
What new products did the exhibitors present at SPS IPC Drives 2016? Computer&AUTOMATION provides an overview of what was on show in the Nuremberg exhibition halls this year.

Portwell is presenting the PCOM-B641VG, a COM Express Type 6 module in compact format (95 mm × 95 mm) based on the new 14 nm Intel Atom processor E3900 product family (6 W ~ 12 W). According to the manufacturer, the module offers around 30% better overall performance compared to the predecessor product. It includes the Intel Gen9 graphics processor with higher media performance, accelerated DRM (Digital Rights Management) for encoding and decoding media content and a wide range of I/O interfaces. The COM Express Type-6 standard allows the performance and longevity of existing COMe system solutions to be improved by simply replacing the CPU module. This increases system availability by a further seven years and maximizes system profitability. The module supports up to 32 GByte DDR3L 1600/1866 MT/s SDRAM on two 204-pin SODIMM slots. A maximum of four PCI Express x1 Gen2 (5.0GT/s) bus interfaces are supported for fast I/O cards or I/O devices. For more flexibility, these can be configured as two x2 lanes or one x4 lane for higher data throughput. It also supports three independent display interfaces: DisplayPort/HDMI, VGA and LVDS.
