Development of German machinery production: In the first half of 2016, machinery manufacturers in Germany were able to increase their real production slightly by 1.1%. Due to an extraordinarily poor July figure (minus 9.3% ), a slight decline of 0.3% is now on the books for the seven-month period from January to July. "Due to calendar day effects, we certainly see opportunities to make up for the July decline in August," predicts Ralph Wiechers, Chief Economist at the VDMA.
