'Invent a Chip' competitionSmart microchip ideas receive awards

The 'Invent a Chip' competition for young scientists organized by the VDE and the BMBF took place for the 15th time. Five microchip ideas under the motto 'Internet of Things' convinced the jury the most. The first prize of 3000 euros was awarded twice this year.

... 'KeySafe' - a microchip designed to prevent people from locking themselves out of their homes. The system developed by Johannes Kreutz (17) and Tobias Höpp (15) from Gymnasium Philippinum in Marburg warns its owner as soon as they leave their own four walls if they have forgotten to take their front door key with them.
