Based on the latest Intel Atom processors from the E3900 family, the new maintenance-free, fanless and battery-free computer platform was developed as an intelligent gateway for data-intensive IoT edge applications. Areas of application can therefore be found primarily in the field of industrial automation, but also in the transportation or communication environment. Serial interfaces or optional fieldbuses provide the connection to the sensor or machine environment, while communication with the IT environment can be realized via the integrated Gbit Ethernet interfaces and optional WiFi support. The KBox A-203 is Microsoft Azure-certified, meaning the hardware can work with Microsoft Azure IoT services. The device also supports Kontron's Approtect security solution. A TPM 2.0 security chip is also integrated for a secure connection to the cloud.
