Benchmark
USA most attractive as a production location
Companies looking for a new production location should opt for the USA. At least that is the conclusion of the current study 'Benchmark international production locations' by the Ulm-based consulting firm Ingenics.
The latest study by Ingenics shows that Germany has lost points in almost all of the categories examined and has therefore also lost its top position in the ranking of top production locations. The USA has moved into first place. According to the study, the working and general conditions there have developed particularly well. "In addition to acceptable labour costs, the accents from which companies benefit are set in almost all areas - including digitalization," according to the authors of the study. A few results of the study in detail:
With its benchmark, Ingenics has been analyzing the competitiveness of selected production countries every two years since 2015 using a mathematical model. In the current edition, the consulting firm evaluated 15 production locations based on the following location factors: law & politics, market, infrastructure, production, human capital, industry & suppliers and digitalization & innovation. The benchmark incorporates the findings of studies from various countries and companies as well as macroeconomic indicators from surveys by international organizations, think tanks and research institutions.
