Telekom presents "mobile mast-to-go"
A transmission mast for temporary network coverage on company premises, construction sites or in disaster areas - the "mobile radio mast-to-go" with sectorized antenna is flexible in many ways.
The new version of the mobile mast-to-go presented at the MWC is characterized by its compact and lightweight design as well as its sectorized antenna. Unlike the previously used omnidirectional antenna, the sectorized antenna with up to three sectors makes it possible to illuminate certain areas in a more targeted manner in order to ensure improved mobile radio coverage. The sectorized antenna can then radiate its signal not just in a circle, but directly in the desired direction. According to Telekom, the three sectors provide more mobile communications capacity overall - thanks to up to three available frequency ranges. The mast supports both 5G and LTE and can extend the antennas up to a height of eight meters.
Frequencies for the industry
With the new antenna technology, more mobile radio frequencies can be used. The first version of the compact transmitter mast previously enabled LTE and 5G over frequencies in the 2.6 and 3.6 gigahertz range. The antennas of the new version now also transmit at 1.8 and 2.1 gigahertz as well as on the 5G frequencies in the 3.7 gigahertz range. These so-called "industrial frequencies" are allocated by the Federal Network Agency and are used in campus networks of business customers - for example for machine data traffic in networked production. This means that the latest version of the micro-container can be integrated even better into such private 5G networks.
Technology in the micro-container
The same applies to the latest version: the entire mobile radio transmission technology fits into a compact micro-container (length: 1.6 meters, width: 2 meters, height: 2.6 meters). According to Telekom, the mast can be set up and made ready for use by one person within an hour. The micro-container can be connected locally to the power grid or operated via mobile energy sources. It can be connected to the data network via fiber optics, radio relay or satellite.
The mast in the practical test
A prototype has already been used by Implenia, a Swiss construction and real estate service provider, to supply a bridge construction site in the valley with 5G and 4G/LTE. flaschenpost SE, a delivery service for food and beverages, is also using the additional 5G supply within a logistics hall to digitalize and speed up its operational processes.
