TE Connectivity hopes that the acquisition will further expand its product portfolio and integrated systems for connected and autonomous driving.

"Increasing data collection and new applications require increased connectivity inside and outside the vehicle," says Eric Kueppers, President Global Automotive at TE Connectivity. "By combining Hirschmann's antenna technology with TE's sensor and connectivity capabilities, we can offer our customers further adaptive system solutions."

The acquisition expands the share of TE components per vehicle, opening up new growth potential and further strengthening TE's position in automotive sensing and connectivity. Following completion of the transaction, Hirschmann Car Communication will be reported as part of TE's Transportation Solutions division.
