Profinet leads the world according to study
According to the results of a recent study, Profinet is the world's leading Ethernet-based communication solution for industrial automation.
In terms of newly installed nodes, Profinet achieved a market share of almost 30% in 2018. This is the result of a study by IHS Markit / Technology, recently a subsidiary of Informa Tech.
Profinet is a communication solution from Profibus & Profinet International (PI). The work of the user organization focuses on the transmission of data. In the case of Profinet, this is currently primarily the topic of Time Sensitive Networking (TSN) and Ethernet-APL for the process industry.
