Cybersecurity for Industry 4.0

Phoenix Contact participates in SecurityMatters

Phoenix Contact Innovation Ventures has invested in the Dutch company SecurityMatters. The Eindhoven-based company is a provider of cybersecurity solutions for industrial control systems.

Since its foundation in 2013, SecurityMatters has been distributing "SilentDefense", a platform for network monitoring and anomaly detection. Areas of application include energy generation, transmission and distribution, water supply, infrastructure solutions, chemicals, oil and gas as well as industrial production technology.

"SecurityMatters offers solutions for the critical infrastructure and Industry 4.0 sectors. There is great market potential, particularly in the industrial environment, where there is already a need for cybersecurity solutions. SecurityMatters' offering fits perfectly with Phoenix Contact's expertise, especially in Industry 4.0," says Marcus Böker, Managing Director of Phoenix Contact Innovation Ventures.

In addition to Phoenix Contact Innovation Ventures and Robert Bosch Venture Capital, the consortium of investors also includes KPN Ventures from the Netherlands and Emerald Technology Ventures from Switzerland. The Swiss company played a leading role in the investment of the four companies. Phoenix Contact Innovation Ventures holds a minority stake in SecurityMatters.
