According to an official press release from Microsoft, the transaction should be completed this year. The Linkedin professional network will be able to retain its corporate brand and independence. Its CEO Jeff Weiner will report to Sataya Nadella, CEO of Microsoft. According to Weiner, this step is a "new chapter" in the history of Linkedin: "Just as we have changed the way the world connects, this partnership with Microsoft and the combination of their cloud and our network will change the way the world works," said Weiner about the transaction.

The international professional network Linkedin has been offering its users the opportunity to present themselves in professional profiles, search for new jobs and communicate with other members since 2003. Companies also use the portal to search for employees. In the first quarter of 2016, the number of members worldwide grew to 433 million, including eight million in Germany.
