Matt Hicks is the new President and CEO

Matt Hicks replaces Paul Cormier as President and CEO of Red Hat. Cormier will serve as Chairman of the company.

Hicks joined Red Hat, a provider of open hybrid cloud technologies, as a developer in 2006 and quickly assumed leadership positions within the company. He was also one of the founding members of the development team for Red Hat OpenShift, an enterprise Kubernetes platform. As Executive Vice President of Products and Technologies, Hicks was responsible for the company's overall product strategy and development. Hicks on his new role: "When I joined Red Hat, I was passionate about open source and our mission - and I wanted to be a part of it. I'm honored and energized to take on this role at this time. There has never been a more exciting time in our industry and the opportunities that Red Hat has to offer are tremendous. I'm ready to roll up my sleeves and prove that open source technology really can unlock the world's potential."

Cormier, who was appointed President and CEO in 2020, has been with Red Hat for 21 years, during which time he has driven much of the company's open hybrid cloud strategy. In his new role, Cormier will serve as a strategic point of reference and key advisor to Red Hat. His focus will continue to be on scaling the company and accelerating the adoption of open source technologies to build an open hybrid cloud architecture.
