Thanks to a strong industry and concerns about cybersecurity, fieldbuses are still growing at a rate of 6% (previous year 4%); however, according to HMS, the number of fieldbus installations is expected to decline steadily over the next few years. The dominant fieldbus is still Profibus with a global market share of 12%, followed by Modbus-RTU and CC-Link with 6% each. Wireless technologies are growing by 32% (previous year also 32%), with WLAN being the most widespread technology, followed by Bluetooth.
