First TSN certification program
AVNU's TSN certification program is the first of its kind to certify Time Sensitive Networking (TSN) capabilities, specifically the 802.1 TSN standards developed by IEEE SA.
[The certification program that has now been launched will initially focus on the core standards for timing and synchronization for time-critical applications (802.1AS) and extensions for scheduled traffic (EST). It is to be expanded this year to also cover express traffic (IET) and the forwarding and queuing of time-critical data streams (FQTSS).
The component certification program was developed to enable the introduction of convergent networks. By certifying their products, manufacturers, vendors and solution providers can ensure that their TSN-enabled products meet market requirements. Users also benefit from a wider choice of certified standard devices that can be integrated into their networks without disrupting operations.
Leading suppliers of industrial networking, computing and automation solutions, including Intel, Texas Instruments, NXP Semiconductors, Analog Devices and Moxa, support the Avnu Alliance and the Component Certification Program.
Companies are increasingly turning to converged networks to integrate IT and operational technologies (OT). For time-critical applications where data must be delivered reliably and with limited latency, TSN capabilities can enable different types of traffic to coexist on the same network. For these devices to be successfully deployed and managed, interoperability and conformance to the TSN standards defined by IEEE SA are critical.
