The AVNU Alliance - the industry consortium promoting open, standards-based deterministic networks - and the Edge Computing Consortium (ECC) - a leading global organization driving the development of industrial edge computing in the Internet of Things (IoT) - have announced a liaison agreement in Beijing. The two consortia intend to pool their interests in the promotion of industrial networking and edge computing. As part of the agreement, the consortia will primarily pursue the common goal of interoperability in the industrial control technology industry.

The joint activities of the AVNU Alliance and the ECC include

Identifying and sharing IIoT best practices, collaborating on test beds and working together on standardization tasks and conformance testing.

"Edge computing is a key technology for the industrial IoT. The collaboration with the ECC enables the AVNU to expand the scope for creating an interoperable basis of Time Sensitive Networking (TSN) for industrial IoT. And this is in line with our organization's goal of building coalitions within the networking space," said Todd Walter, AVNU Alliance Industrial Segment Chair.
