Application at the IoT edge

Cisco is expanding its industrial router portfolio: three Catalyst 5G industrial routers are used to securely connect mobile and stationary systems. The routers are based on Cisco IOS XE to extend the corporate network and SD-WAN to the edge.

This unified architecture provides IT and operations teams with common tools and improves security. The routers are modular and offer integrated edge computing for business app development and faster data analysis and decision making at the edge.

The 'Catalyst' routing portfolio offers scalability, agility and security for the further development of applications. According to Cisco, it provides a wide range of modules - including 5G and LTE for public or private mobile networks as well as security applications such as FirstNet, DSL, Wi-SUN - and upgradeable memory. The portfolio also enables the CPU and battery to be updated in the field.
