The past year was characterized by strong growth for the French company: The Sigfox network is now represented in 45 countries. The number of things connected to the network rose by 65% in 2017 and currently stands at 2.5 million. The company's turnover also increased by more than 56% to EUR 50 million in 2017.

Sigfox plans to further expand the performance of the data collected via its network in 2018. The aim is to reach 60 countries and over 1 billion people. The company also plans to connect around 6 million things by the end of the year and position itself as an important B2B data provider in the long term.

Hacking House' student project

Sigfox also announces the launch of 'Hacking House'. 'Hacking House' is envisioned as a project that brings together students worldwide to learn more about the IoT and Sigfox technology. "To unlock the true value of data globally, we need a strong ecosystem," explains Raouti Chehih, Chief Adoption & Evangelization Officer. "'Hacking House' is the perfect embodiment of this Sigfox vision - a global student network capable of finding innovative solutions to our customers' everyday challenges."

The kick-off of the 'Hacking House Summer Camp' is planned for June in San Francisco. The 2018 cohort will then begin its program in September. Each class will go through a three-month program in which 30 students will get the chance to work on ten different projects. Sigfox plans to open two more hacking houses in Europe and Asia in 2018. Another 50 are to follow over the next three years.
