Siko presents a sensor for motor feedback applications called MSAC506 for torque motors, which is still under development. The sensor works with an SSI interface for detecting the position of the motor and an additional analog 1Vpp interface for control. Both interfaces are integrated in the sensor as standard and work in parallel. This combination provides absolute position information at all times and enables precise commutation even in dynamic operation. With the help of the absolute SSI data, the drive can start from any position without any problems. The development goal is for the sensor to record data up to a peripheral speed of 32 m/s at a maximum speed of 6000 rpm. The sensor and an associated ring ("MRAC506") should be suitable for use in an operating temperature range of -20 to +85 °C. The combination of the magnetic sensor "MSA506C" and the magnetic ring "MRAC506" is insensitive to dust, chips, oil, grease and moisture.
