The electronics service provider SYS TEC electronic has developed a plug-in computing core for connection to the cloud (IoT chip), which is freely programmable by the user. The IoT chip is designed to combine the requirements of sensor-cloud connectivity with data pre-processing from time-critical signals to efficient control tasks. Corresponding function libraries are already pre-installed for this purpose, making the IoT chip ready for immediate use. Libraries and protocols such as MQTT, Modbus and CANopen are available on the chip and can be used immediately. The templates provided in the source code serve as a starting point for users to make their own adaptations. Actuators and sensors can be connected directly via I²C and SPI. According to the manufacturer, this means that measurement, control and regulation can also be carried out on the IoT chip. The chip therefore functions autonomously and independently of the cloud. With other IoT chip devices, these processes typically take place in the cloud. Furthermore, no additional gateway is required for the connection to the cloud.
