07 - Sumitomo Drive Technologies: More modularity for precision gearboxes
Sumitomo Drive Technologies is launching a new generation of the 'ECY' helical gearbox series with higher torque and more flexibility: thanks to a modular connection system, optional motors can now be easily fitted to the gearboxes. According to the manufacturer, the 'ECY 203' and 'ECY 205' gearboxes have a performance increase of more than 30% compared to their predecessors in terms of rated torque, acceleration torque and emergency stop torque. Thanks to their internal cylindrical roller bearings, the torsional rigidity is also around twice as high as that of a conventional shaft gearbox of the same size. The gearboxes are fully sealed and are particularly suitable for applications with high repeat accuracy, limited space requirements and applications with hollow shafts, such as in dental technology, the semiconductor industry, machine tools or cobots.
