Mitsubishi Electric rounds off its frequency inverter portfolio and supplies special devices for crane applications and winding applications, among other things. The FR-A800 Plus series are high-performance devices that are equipped with firmware with pre-configured functions for special applications. Variants for crane applications ('FR-A800 for Cranes') and winding applications ('FR-A800 for Roll-to-Roll') are currently available. The crane variant ('FR-A800-CRN') offers crane-specific functions such as suppression of load vibrations (Anti-Sway Control) and detection of slippage on the motor (Falling Detection). The inverter detects the situation and takes countermeasures. Furthermore, the device provides additional torque when lifting heavy loads or accelerates the movement of light loads to make crane operation more economical thanks to shorter cycle times. Thanks to PLC functionality, applications such as position offset control for overhead cranes can also be programmed without an external control system, which prevents interlocking or distortion due to different wheel speeds. The roll-to-roll version ('FR-A800-R2R') is tailored to all types of winding applications with varying circumferential speeds on the reels/rolls. Tension control compensates for mechanical losses due to friction on dancer and winding rollers, improves the winding result by reducing the tension as the diameter increases (taper function) and dampens excessive oscillation of the support or dancer rollers in tension control, for example on paper or wire drawing machines.
