
If fingers are not moved, the tendons stick together with the tendon sheaths within a few days and the hand stiffens forever - a problem that can occur after hand surgery or a stroke. Christian Schorr 17), Pascal Lindemann (18) and Dominic Libanio (20) have found a remedy: they have developed a new type of finger splint that allows the fingers to move automatically according to an individual program. The advantage over existing systems: Thanks to three swivel levers and 3D printing, the new finger splint can be adapted to individual anatomy and movement kinematics. It is connected to the wearer's smartphone via a Bluetooth module and a self-programmed patient app. This also enables telemedical care by the doctor. The three students won 3rd prize in the technology category with their development.
