The turnkey systems for pipes and profiles are based on laser triangulation and, according to Polytec, offer both high resolution and fast detection and analysis. Welding defects as small as 15 µm can be detected in real time. In addition to these inspection systems, Polytec will also be offering Xiris cameras for welding monitoring in the future, which allow a clear view of the brightest welding arcs and, according to the supplier, also perfectly depict darker background areas such as the weld pool and seam. The HDR cameras were developed for welding monitoring in visible light and in the infrared range. High-contrast images in the welding arc and the visualization of temperatures in the weld pool enable analyses in a wide variety of welding processes.
