Partnerships for computer vision solutions

Basler and MVTec are cooperating independently with Siemens. The new partnerships will enable customers to integrate machine vision applications directly into their existing automation technology.

The cooperation between the image processing providers and Siemens gives system integrators, machine builders and professional end users who want to use computer vision easy access to automated and easy-to-integrate solutions.

The first result of the alliance is the'Basler Vision Connector' - an app that allows Basler's vision components to be easily integrated into Siemens' 'Industrial Edge Ecosystem'. In addition to the Industrial Edge, the app will also be integrated into Siemens' 'Simatic TIA' systems, allowing customers to choose the solution that best suits their application. This is the first step in the partnership. In order to cover a broader range of computer vision applications in the future, Basler's 'pylon SDK' will be offered on Siemens automation systems. This will enable customers to easily integrate vision applications into their automated systems - both conventional image processing functionalities and machine learning-based evaluations. Another part of the partnership is the joint customer support of the two companies, which will be available to customers as a common point of contact for information and advice.

MVTec Software is a manufacturer of hardware-independent software for industrial image processing. The company is bringing the first application for surface inspection and optical quality control to Siemens Industrial Edge. The app called 'Anomaly Detection for Visual Inspection' helps customers to detect both structural and logical defects on objects using AI and thus improve the quality of components. The app is user-friendly and does not require in-depth knowledge of programming or machine vision. It is easy to learn, test and use. By using the app, customers do not need 'stand-alone' third-party solutions.
