The Ensenso N series is a compact and robust 3D camera system that has been specially designed for 3D applications in robotics and automated series production.

The Ensenso N series from IDS Imaging Development Systems fulfills the IP65/67 protection classes and is therefore also suitable for use in harsher environments. The camera family is now being expanded to include the N40 and N45 models. It has a new interior design. With their low weight and rounded edges, they open up new application possibilities, for example in collaborative robotics.

The housing of the Ensenso N40/N45 3D cameras is made of fiber-reinforced plastic - making them the lightest stereo vision cameras with Gigabit Ethernet in the IDS range. When used on a robot arm, for example, this means less strain on the robot mechanics. The cameras also minimize the risk of injury thanks to their rounded edges. As a result, they also demonstrate their strengths in collaborative use with human colleagues. At the same time, the housing meets the requirements of protection class IP65/67 and offers protection against dirt, dust and splash water.

The electronics have also been revised for the 3D cameras: The improved infrared projector enables a higher light output and scores points with optimized heat management. Among other things, this results in better data quality and higher clock rates. The projector is optionally available with blue illumination in the visible range (465 nanometers) or with infrared illumination (850 nanometers).

The new models each work with two monochrome CMOS sensors (global shutter, 1,280 x 1,024 pixels) and are equipped with screwable GPIO connectors for trigger and flash. Using Power-over-Ethernet, data transfer and power supply can also be realized over long cable distances.
