Flir takes over Canadian camera manufacturer

In future, Point Grey Research will be part of Flir Systems. The company is a manufacturer of digital cameras for applications in industry, medical technology, biotechnology, traffic engineering, biometrics, geo-information systems and people counting.

Flir Systems is primarily known as a supplier of thermal imaging cameras.

Point Grey was founded in 1997 in Richmond, British Columbia, Canada. The company currently employs more than 300 people worldwide with branches in Germany, Japan, China and Italy.

According to Flir, the takeover sum is around 253 million US dollars. The transaction is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2016.
