Image processing trade fair Vision 2016
Another record number of exhibitors and visitors
The Vision trade fair closed its doors with a record number of exhibitors and visitors: 441 exhibitors from 28 countries and almost 10,000 visitors from 58 countries were represented. At the last Vision two years ago, there were 432 exhibitors and a good 8,700 visitors - also a record.
"Machine vision is the technology that makes robotics and automation possible in the first place," explains Florian Niethammer, Project Manager Vision at Messe Stuttgart, "and Vision is the only event in the world where all users can find out about the complete spectrum of machine vision technology in this breadth." 57% of exhibitors (2014: 53%) came from abroad; the proportion of companies from China in particular grew. The most strongly represented nation was once again the USA with 34 exhibitors. According to Niethammer, the trend topics of embedded vision, hyperspectral imaging and 3D image processing in particular attracted a record number of visitors to Stuttgart.
The Vision Award 2016 went to the Japanese company Machine Vision Lighting for its VISA (Variable Irradiation Solid Angle) lighting technology. It uses light to make 3D structures visible and therefore enables complete imaging of edge structures, for example.
In 2017, Messe Stuttgart and the EMVA (European Machine Vision Association) are organizing the first European Embedded Vision Conference. "We have increasingly observed how important the topic of embedded vision is in recent months," explains Niethammer. "We are dealing with an overarching technology that is highly relevant in both industrial and non-industrial sectors." Embedded Vision Europe 2017 will take place from October 12 to 13, 2017 at the International Congress Center Stuttgart (ICS).
The date for the next Vision has also been set: In two years' time, the machine vision trade fair will take place from November 6 to 8, 2018.
