Karl Haeusgen, President of the VDMA, on the stricter corona measures: "The mechanical and plant engineering sector, which is characterized by SMEs, supports the latest decisions by the federal and state governments to combat the pandemic. Even under the new circumstances, companies are accepting their responsibility in the fight against infection. A general shutdown of industrial production would have been the wrong approach and would result in considerable consequential damage to the economy as a whole and risks to security of supply. With their hygiene concepts, companies in the mechanical and plant engineering sector are ensuring that contact in production facilities is reduced to a minimum. In addition, home office should be extended again in companies and seasonal closures should be extended wherever possible."
