DMG Mori / Heitec
Joint venture for 'Digital Twin'
DMG Mori and Heitec found the joint venture 'DMG Mori Heitec'. The goal: In future, every DMG Mori machine is to be equipped with automation.
The new joint venture 'DMG Mori Heitec', based in Erlangen, Germany, has set itself the goal of developing a virtual image - or "Digital Twin" for short. With the help of digital engineering, it should be possible to reduce project lead times by around 20% and on-site commissioning by up to 80%. Future expansions or changes can be planned and tested in parallel to ongoing operations with the help of the digital twin.
"As two equal partners, we are strengthening our automation expertise in a joint venture. The development of the digital twin is of central importance: It accelerates and stabilizes all customer processes - from development to setup to service - and ensures flexible and stable processes," says Christian Thönes, CEO of DMG Mori.
"Through automation and digitalization, we are making a significant contribution to increasing productivity and efficiency. With digital engineering, we are achieving significantly higher quality in development and commissioning with shorter lead times," says Richard Heindl, CEO of Heitec.
In the short term, automation standards for a wide range of customer industries and the implementation of customer-specific projects specifically for SMEs are also planned.
