Focused on DC voltage applications

Schaltbau is launching DC contactors for the growing markets of DC voltage applications. With the C310 series, the company offers an alternative to the gas-encapsulated devices that have often been used to date.

The first types in the series are designed for continuous currents of 150 A, 300 A and 500 A. The modular concept allows the use of an arcing chamber for 60 V, 1000 V or 1500 V on the same basic device. These chambers work on a permanent magnetic basis and ensure compact dimensions and low weight. The arcing chambers can be removed without tools in order to inspect the contact system. By regulating the coil current, the devices always work with the same reliability regardless of the ambient temperature. This also reduces the energy consumption of the monostable version when switched on. Due to its design, the bistable version has no power consumption in either end position. The DC contactors are robust against shock and vibration loads and meet the requirements of ISO 12405 (automotive) and IEC 61373 (railroad applications). As both current directions are safely controlled, the contactors are suitable for all applications with energy recovery. A typical example of this is energy storage systems in which batteries are charged and discharged again. Other areas of application for the series include regenerative systems, battery-powered vehicles, DC charging stations and photovoltaic systems.
