Bridging short-term voltage dips

The UF40.241 capacitor buffer module from Puls is a supplementary device for regulated 24 V (DC) power supplies for bridging short-term voltage dips. The 20 A module is now also available for 40 A applications.

It bridges short faults in the DC grid without gaps and extends the holding time in the event of AC grid failures. Depending on the output current, the buffer time is between 160 ms and several seconds. In regions with poor mains quality, the buffer module helps to maintain the supply voltage, thereby securing process data and enabling processes to be completed in a controlled manner. The device is also suitable for applications that require short-term peak currents that exceed the power range of the power supply unit. It is connected in parallel to the load circuit at any point and works autonomously in the background. The service life of the buffer modules is matched to that of the power supplies. The energy is stored in service-free electrolytic capacitors that allow operation at ambient temperatures of -25 to +70 °C. To increase the output power or the buffer time, several buffer modules can be connected in parallel.
