The independent jury praised the solution as an "outstanding innovation with a wide range of applications".
"In the Hermes Award, with its numerous outstanding entries, the decisive factors for the winning project are the forward-looking innovative character, a product solution approach that is as target group-oriented as possible and the industrial testing of new technology," says jury chairman and Fraunhofer President Prof. Reimund Neugebauer. With regard to NanoWired's solution, he says: "We are looking at a globally new process that offers a wide range of potential applications in the sensor, semiconductor, automotive and consumer goods market segments, for example. Particularly for temperature-free connections, production processes could be switched from soldering to plugging in the future. The process presented is also more cost-effective than soldering and bonding and is already being used successfully in almost twenty industrial projects."
The award-winning and nominated products and processes can be seen at the companies' stands during the Hannover Messe 2019.
