The automotive industry at CES 2019

The first trade fair highlight of the still young 2019 started in the second week of January: The Consumer Electronics Show (CES) opened its doors from January 8 to 11 and once again showed why more and more car manufacturers and suppliers are discovering this trade fair for themselves.

More than 50 years have passed since the first CES in New York in 1967 and the trade fair in Las Vegas continues to grow. In 2019, more than 4,500 companies exhibited and around 180,000 attendees from 150 countries were recorded. With 11 official venues, CES covered an exhibition area of over 270,000 net m2, offering space for 33 product categories, such as self-driving cars, vehicle technology, artificial intelligence and smart cities, and 24 marketplaces. The conference program included around 250 sessions.

As consumer electronics are increasingly finding their way into vehicles, it is not surprising that more and more automotive manufacturers and suppliers are being drawn to the gambling metropolis. The whole thing was shaped by autonomous driving. New concepts demonstrated how the newly gained time can be used in the vehicle.
