Compared to the same period of the previous year, order intake at ABB Germany rose by 11% to EUR 2.80 billion, with the increase primarily relating to domestic business. Sales grew by 10% compared to the previous year to EUR 2.78 billion. Earnings before interest, taxes and amortization (operational EBITA) declined slightly and amounted to EUR 212 million (2017: EUR 229 million).

According to the company, the Robotics and Drives division performed particularly well in the 2018 reporting period. At EUR 604 million, incoming orders were up 16% on the previous year, while sales increased by 6% to EUR 570 million. This increase was higher in absolute terms in Germany, but was also clearly noticeable in the export business. In the Industrial Automation division, incoming orders amounted to EUR 777 million, up 21% on the previous year, while sales rose by 16% to EUR 758 million. A slight decline in domestic business in this division was offset by an increase in export business. The Electrification Products division recorded a 4% increase in incoming orders to EUR 1.41 billion in 2018, while sales also grew by 4% to EUR 1.39 billion. The increases relate to both domestic business and exports. The division's business also benefited from the good economic situation in the mechanical engineering sector and a growing solar business.
