Precision in motion control and handling

The 'EII102' counting, timing and incremental encoder module from Bachmann's 'M100' series records input signals at up to 32 MHz with quadrature evaluation, which, according to the supplier, allows high resolutions of the incremental encoder even at high movement speeds.

According to Bachmann, the module is also suitable for highly demanding motion control and handling applications. A speed can be calculated directly on the module from the recorded encoder signal and made available for applications. Processing on the module enables precise speed determination across the entire speed range. Individual signals from a light barrier or a pulse generator can also be precisely evaluated via the module inputs. For example, the quantity of products produced can be determined by counting the pulses. If, on the other hand, the time between two input edges of a simple pulse generator is measured, the speed, for example, can be determined. The measurement is carried out with an accuracy of 10 ns.
