New Chief Technology Officer comes from Kuka

The Supervisory Board of Ziehl-Abegg has appointed Wolfgang Mayer as the new Chief Technology Officer. The 50-year-old will take over the role in February 2024.

Wolfgang Mayer has worked for Kuka since 1996. Initially, he held various positions in application and software development, later the mechanical engineer headed research and development in the field of mechatronics for Kuka Robotics. Since 2020, he has held the position of CTO at Kuka Robotics. In particular, Mayer internationalized development activities in his previous positions and established and expanded R&D areas in China, Hungary, Finland and the USA, for example.

Ziehl-Abegg (Künzelsau) is a supplier in the field of air, control and drive technology. Examples of product applications include heating and cooling systems or clean room and agricultural systems. Another area is electric motors, which provide propulsion in elevators, medical applications (computer tomographs) or deep-sea underwater vehicles, for example.

In 2022, the company employed 2,800 people at its production plants in southern Germany. The company has 5,100 employees worldwide. The turnover is 873 million euros.
