Intelligent drives with EtherCAT interface

EtherCAT combines the advantages of Ethernet-based communication with the simplicity of classic fieldbus systems.

Within the ECI series from ebm-Papst, drives with an integrated bus interface have already been established for some time under the term K5 electronics functionality. Now the internal rotor motors can also be addressed via EtherCAT. For this purpose, high-performance interface electronics have been added to the drive housing. The advantages for decentralized drives lie primarily in the synchronization of several axes, the reduced integration effort and a space-saving design in the machine.

With the modular drive system from ebm-Papst, drive solutions can be implemented quickly and individually. The individual drive modules can be put together using standardized interfaces. Similar to a modular system, it is possible to assemble the motor with the appropriate power, brake, encoder, electronics and planetary, helical or angular gearbox online in a short time.

ArgoDrive

The ArgoDrive drive and steering system combines the propulsion and steering functions in one drive unit - consisting of motor, gearbox, steering, sensors and all necessary connections. The infinite steering angle makes it possible to move a driverless transport vehicle over a wide area. The use of just two ArgoDrives guarantees complete omnidirectional freedom of movement.

ebm-Papst offers the new drive-steering system in the Light, Standard and Heavy versions for weight classes up to 100, 300 and 500 kg respectively. With four drive-steering systems in the Heavy version, a total vehicle weight of up to two tons is possible. This means that large loads can be moved even on inclines, making the ArgoDrive suitable for applications in intralogistics, medical technology or flexible automotive production.
