Formula Student Germany 2018Swiss and German racing cars at the front
A total of 4,000 students competed in 118 teams in the 'Formula Student Germany 2018' competition at the Hockenheimring in August. Their self-built racing cars competed in three categories: Combustion Engine, Electric Drive and Autonomous Vehicles.

... in five dynamic disciplines: In the 'Skidpad' discipline (= figure-eight driving), the racing cars drive around a course in the shape of a figure eight (pictured). They have to complete two consecutive laps on each circle. With a fast lap time, the cars show how much lateral acceleration they can generate.
