Product picture galleryNews from drive technology
Without drive technology - in the truest sense of the word - nothing would turn in most machines and systems. Computer&AUTOMATION presents the latest innovations in this automation discipline in a series of pictures.

Nord Drivesystems is launching intelligent drive systems with integrated PLC that take over complete sequence control in customer applications. Thanks to extensive diagnostic functions, sensor interfaces and process controllers, they can detect blockages in particular and in many cases restore normal movement independently. This increases system availability and reduces the need for servicing. If an obstacle, such as a blockage in a pipe, can be removed by changing speed and direction, the drive then resumes normal operation. Otherwise, it can initiate a fault message to the control level and initiate an evasive maneuver, for example by instructing networked drive units to activate a bypass. The actions can be programmed individually for specific applications. This enables autonomously operating, intelligent system components, for example sorters, portioning or packaging systems, individually or networked pumps, crushers or screw conveyors. At the same time, optimum integration into automation networks is guaranteed. If required, the inverter PLC processes drive and application data for a higher-level control system or for diagnostic purposes.
