Digital drives in three power levels

Performance Motion Devices (PMD) has launched the 'ION/CME N-Series' digital drive on the European market - single-axis motion controllers with integrated power electronics and network communication.

The digital drives in PMD's series offer motion control, network connectivity (Ethernet, CAN, RS232, RS485 and SPI) and power amplification for brushless DC, DC brushed and stepper motors. According to the manufacturer, their compactness, different power levels - 75, 350 and 1,000 W - and high connectivity make them particularly suitable for applications in medical technology, laboratory automation, semiconductor equipment, mobile robotics and industrial automation. The miniature drives can be mounted on circuit boards and installed in the smallest of spaces. They have a motion controller IC, a driver circuit and a microprocessor for executing application programs. They have a single voltage input and are fully user programmable. The modules in the series are available in a developer kit configuration where the specified module is soldered to a connection board and mounted on a base plate or heat sink. The DK connection boards are so compact that they are also suitable for direct mounting on the actual machine hardware during prototyping or for production applications.
