Compact motion control system

The Motion Controller 22xx...BX4 IMC from Faulhaber is already integrated in the brushless motors of the '22xx...BX4' family. The increase in length compared to the individual motor is 18 mm and includes a fully-fledged servo controller and a 12-bit encoder.

The Faulhaber motion controller is available with an RS232 interface or in a CANopen version. Direct support by common PLCs is ensured by full conformity with the CiA 402 Servo Drive standard, but the RS232 version can also be used to control several drives via a single master port. The integrated motion controller can perform tasks such as homing a drive directly via its local digital and analog I/Os. Alternatively, both versions can also be operated 'stand-alone' without a master, whereby the digital and analog I/Os can be used flexibly for local control tasks or for discrete setpoint and actual values. Thanks to built-in current control, there is automatic protection against overload and a diagnostic function is also provided. Torque, speed and position control are supported.
