Drive technology
Bonfiglioli fully "in the wind"
At the recent Hannover Messe, Bonfiglioli announced another record year: in 2016, the Italian drive technology manufacturer increased its turnover by over 8% to a total of almost 790 million euros.

© Computers&AUTOMATIONIn the last three years, Bonfiglioli 's sales in the Asia and America regions have increased by more than 20% - particularly in Brazil, China, India and Russia. However, Europe and the Middle East remain the most important markets, accounting for almost 57% of total sales. The remainder of sales is divided into 20% in the Americas and 23% in the Asia/Pacific region, with an annual growth rate of 15%.
Bonfiglioli is currently in the process of strengthening its global presence and production capacities - for example by expanding its research and development center and production lines and facilities, such as the plant for mobile and wind solutions in Forli, Italy, and the construction of a new production facility in Pune (India) for gearboxes for industrial applications. The construction of the new Group headquarters in Bologna is also on the agenda. To make customer relations even more efficient and effective, Bonfiglioli has also improved its online offering with the introduction of the new Mosaico e-business platform. Mosaico is designed to help customers, distributors and sales staff to select the right drive solutions for their specific applications and to support design activities.
Compact drive with improved performance
The improved ACU 7 drives are designed for applications such as material handling or for sectors such as the mining, sugar, water and waste water, road construction and plastics industries.

The drives are available for 230 and 400 volt supply voltages. In the 160 kilowatt version, the inverters have a power density of 2 KW per liter, while the 200 KW version achieves a power density of 2.5 KW per liter volume with integrated liquid cooling.
In addition to the familiar features of the Active Cube series, the new devices offer further options such as control functions with 32 instructions and 16 variables as well as several feedback sensors. Both models have either PTC, PT100 or KTY temperature sensors. In terms of communication, the user can choose between Profinet, EthernetIP, Ethercat, VABus/TCP and CANopen. The Safe Torque Off (STO) safety function is also integrated as standard.
