For its study, the Cologne-based Staufenbiel Institute surveyed around 300 companies across all sectors, which together have around 120,000 applicants each year. These companies currently have around 17,000 vacancies, 4600 of which are for engineers and around 2,500 for IT specialists. One drawback: 40% of the total of 17,000 positions are internships, not full-time jobs.
